When your dog requires orthopedic surgery, you want more than a successful operation—you want a team committed to your pet’s safety, comfort, recovery, and your family’s peace of mind.
At Lethbridge Pet Hospital, orthopedic surgery is one of our primary areas of clinical focus.
A Dedicated Orthopedic Surgery Suite
Unlike many veterinary hospitals that perform both routine and orthopedic procedures in the same operating room, Lethbridge Pet Hospital features a purpose-built orthopedic surgery suite dedicated exclusively to orthopedic procedures.
Orthopedic surgeries require meticulous surgical technique and the highest possible standards of sterility because implants such as bone plates and screws become a permanent part of your dog’s body. Every effort is made to minimize the risk of infection and provide the safest possible surgical environment.
Our dedicated orthopedic operating room allows our team to maintain the level of organization, cleanliness, and surgical discipline these advanced procedures deserve.

Advanced Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring
Your dog’s safety during anesthesia is every bit as important as the surgery itself.
Our hospital utilizes modern anesthesia equipment and advanced patient monitoring technology throughout every orthopedic procedure.
Depending on your pet’s needs, monitoring may include continuous assessment of:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Blood pressure
- Blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
- End-tidal carbon dioxide (ETCO₂)
- Body temperature
- Respiratory rate
- Heart rate
Each patient receives an individualized anesthetic protocol and multimodal pain management designed to maximize comfort before, during, and after surgery.
A Dedicated Orthopedic Team
Every TPLO procedure is supported by a dedicated surgical team led by Dr. Jacob Adserballe and Dr. Elnaz Shariati.
From your initial consultation through surgery and postoperative recovery, our team works together to provide coordinated, compassionate care focused on achieving the best possible outcome for your pet.
Experience Matters
Dr. Jacob Adserballe has more than 20 years of surgical experience and has personally performed over 250 TPLO procedures.
Every orthopedic case is carefully evaluated to determine the treatment option most appropriate for that individual patient. While many dogs are excellent candidates for TPLO surgery, some patients may benefit from alternative procedures or referral to a board-certified veterinary surgeon depending on the complexity of the case. Our recommendations are always based on what we believe is in the best interest of your pet.
We Believe Communication is Part of Great Medicine
Successful orthopedic surgery extends well beyond the operating room.
Our team takes great pride not only in achieving successful surgical outcomes, but also in providing exceptional patient care and clear, compassionate communication with every family we serve.
We believe that pet owners should fully understand:
- their dog’s diagnosis
- the recommended treatment options
- what to expect on surgery day
- postoperative home care
- rehabilitation and physiotherapy
- expected recovery milestones
- long-term prognosis
Our goal is for every family to feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their dog’s recovery.
